Greetings! I'm Dana, a GenX word nerd living in the PNW with a whole lot of little words to share.
I started this blog in 2022 as Once a Week Vegan, sharing my weekly recipes and thoughts on how incremental change can move the world.
But I never intended to run a cooking blog. The world certainly has enough of those, run by far superior cooks to me. I launched Once a Week Vegan as a way to test Medium as a content platform (I like it), while I sorted through my thoughts of what I really wanted to be writing about (turns out, basically everything).
So I've changed my moniker to “All My Little Words,” one of my favorite songs from my favorite album of all time, the Magnetic Fields’ 69 Love Songs.
Sure, the song’s lyrics are about the futility of words changing someone’s heart or mind. Some many consider this inauspicious.
But to my GenX heart, the irony is perfection.
I plan to use this space to write about any and all topics of interest — from my career as a mid-senior editorial worker bee at an online tech giant, to my life as an imaginary girl, to my passion for music and karaoke, to parenting my two teens through the rubbish of this modern life — all through the lens of me, a PNW-based GenXer with an offbeat perspective of how and why the world works (or doesn’t work) the way it does.
I’ll also be up-leveling some of the writing I’ve done in the past on Three Imaginary Girls as well as other publications and social media channels.
I’ll still post the intermittent vegan recipe, too. I have a cannellini bean and sage one you’re gonna love.
I hope you’re going to love it all.
Because I’d like to think it does matter what I do, and that the words I’ll write for you will make an impact, even if only for me.
