I think Biden has done a lousy job with succession planning. I thought he recognized his place as a sort of “changing of the guard” for the democrat party. I half wondered/hoped he’d step down midway through his term, to force a first woman President worth out requiring an explicit vote, to get us over that hump. I also hoped he’d elevated Harris (or other Dems) to make them super visible ahead of the election cycle, and to unite us around candidates so he could step down. I was so excited about a VP Harris and have been disappointed to just not hear much from her over the past few years. I worry about her viability as a candidate—and for the lack of any other younger rising stars.
