My Dog Lost Her Favorite Park
I have no idea how to tell her.
Meet Kira, my mini Aussiedoodle. She’s the only dog I’ve ever had and the best little dog I know.
Kira came to our home as a wee puppy in November 2020. But Kira isn’t a pandemic dog, even as we got her during the pandemic. Kira is an election dog. Late into Election Night on November 3, 2020, as we all stared at the TV, terrified and hopeful, transfixed by Steve Kornacki and his ever-evolving data points, I made a panicked promise to my gods. And by that I mean, I posted it on Facebook. But it was a binding oath, an unbreakable vow: I swore if we Democrats pulled off a desperately needed win against The Orange One Who Must Not Be Named, then I would get my kids a dog.
But in all honesty, I got myself a dog.
And that’s how Kira, aka Kira Kamala Oreo DuBois, came to join our family.
Now that she’s here, I get it, the way dog people are the way they are. Because now, I am one of them.
I can’t believe how much I adore this crazy mutt.
Kira loves belly rubs, chew sticks, human food, giving loads of kisses, licking our cat…
