I also love it here. I'm 26 years deep in my community, and my children are thriving.
And the elephant in the room for your article is--I can't raise my daughters in a state that limits their reproductive choices, or discriminates against queer people. That's a hard no. So, our options for affordability are limited.
It's become the way in the US. There's a huge cost to living in one of the blue dot islands in our archipelago of urban sane spots, but it's one I'll always opt to pay in order to retain these freedoms--and especially for my kids.
