My first thought was, share this article with him. I’m not sure where this dad lives and what the conversation is like in other parts of the country, but from what I know about kids right now—there’s no way this kind-year-old isn’t aware of the concept of gender fluidity.

I realize being aware of it versus validating a change in one’s family are quite different. I have an idea for how he should approach this, but it’s a bit longer and I’m typing with my thumbs/on my phone now. One question for you—how would you feel if I took your question and created a new article with it for my response? I think this question is nuanced and I’d like to share my answer more broadly. Thoughts?
