This is infinitely sad and also so beautifully written.

The doctor made sweeping gestures in search of that fast, loud heartbeat. Everything felt the same. My belly was thick and heavy. I still couldn’t eat. But the baby was dead. Inside me. The baby I had to carry for 10 hours until the doctor could slide it out and deliver it to the darkness.
